Scorpion Dangers
Scorpions native to California have a sting that isn’t terrible. It’ll sting you and give a sharp pain at the spot on your skin. You might also start feeling sick, have stomach aches, throw up, have a fever, sweat, and itch. But not to worry, these symptoms are usually gone within 24 hours.
The Arizona bark scorpion, however, is a real health threat. Pale and flat, this scorpion has thin claws and a wicked sting. It is not from southern California, but it can hitchhike on camping gear and vehicles that have been in New Mexico and Arizona. People with weak immune systems, such as the elderly and very young children, have even died after being stung. If you get stung by any kind of scorpion, please go to the hospital right away.
